The book “La fortification demonstrée et reduicté en art…” has a number of different layouts that change over the course of the pages. There are very long Headings (almost the size of a sentence), which are written in capitalization. By flipping through the pages, you will notice that there is quite a variation regarding the margins. In some places the illustrations are not organized in the same way as the layout of text. Sometimes they even extend to the very end of the pages. There are also different fonts and sizes (headings, introductions and text) that change within the chapters.
There are mostly illustrations with perspective views and schematics because the book is all about alignments of fortifications. Additionally to these illustrations, we can find floor plans of the fortifications the size of a double page.
Most images and schematics are scattered between the text fragments. As said before, there are also illustrations (floor plan, perspective views) as big as a double page.
The images are numbered and especially the schematics have a reference to the text by using numbers and letters.
Perspective views and alignments of the fortifications are very important and its difficult to show the importance of angles by only using text. Therefore the book has a very large number of images.
The organization of the book suggests a type of academic study.
