The book ‘De Partibus Aedium’ by Francesco Mario Grapaldi is a lexicon divided into two books.

The first part of both books contains an Index of the most difficult words contained in the following parts. The alphabetic list is organized in three columns per page and is twenty-eight pages long.

The second part of both books is composed of several chapters which explain all the words for all the objects and structures which can be found in all the rooms of a great house. Every chapter starts with a capital letter which is beautifully decorated. The text in this part of the book is organized in one column which only takes up about half of the width of the page. Besides that, on the other half of the page, there are single words describing the topics contained in this chapters which help finding a specific section about a specific topic contained in this book.

The only Illustration in the whole book is located on the first page. It takes up the whole page and is not accompanied with any text.
