The book is divided in three different parts. The first part shows an overview of the antique orders with all its different types of columns, entablatures with all its subcategories and portals and the second part the modern version of those components. When opening the book we can find one for the title, as well as all the other necessary information such as the author, publicist and the place of publication. Also interesting is the full page drawing of the builder Robertus De Cotte, which is on the following page. As the book contains mainly of architectural drawings and plans, there are not many texts inside. Only some introduction texts to the different parts of the book that describe how to build and design the introduced elements.
The text pages of the book don’t have a heading and are divided in different paragraphs. They are written in joined-up writing and very easily readable, as the font size is quite big. There are other text bits in the book such as headings and descriptions additional to the architectural drawings. Most of these drawings are full page (always on the right page), only one ground plan and one cross-section, both located at the end of the book, are foldout spreads.
The detailed images of all parts of the different orders, old as well as new, are the important part of this book and take up most of the space, therefore I guess it should serve the academic studies.
