Composition of the book in terms of typography and illustrations
Each chapter of the Book is divided in two columns, title is in a single column section, and the body text in another. The font size of major headings is biggest, sub-heading middle and straight matter is smallest. Besides, the font types of the three parts are also different. As for margins, top margin and bottom margin are same and biggest, then outside margin is bigger than inside margin. Before every chapter, there is a big letter pattern as entry word for decorative reason.
The illustrations and drawings are scattered throughout the book. Most of them are details and perspective views. There is also schematics for the explanation. And the images are organized either in-text or in full-page. Although the images are not numbered or referenced, but they are closely bounded up with the context. Many of the in-text illustrations are noted with letters, which can refer to parts of the text. As for images in full-page, some of them have a explanatory note at the bottom, very particular and in detail. Furthermore, Perspective views in the book are very lifelike with shade and light, nevertheless, schematics are very simple and intelligible.
Taking all these into consideration, I think the book have offered a very detailed explanation of architectural theory, for example the background knowledge and how to build. Therefore, the book might be used for academic study.
