The mathematician and author Jean Francois Niceron wants to describe his interest for the theory of anamorphosis, he describes the book in the subtitle « La perspective » as a way to teach the way of making and constructing all kinds of disorted figures which when seen from the correct viewpoint appear in correct proportion. It is a reworking of the “Perspective curieuse”, translated by the author into Latin.
The book consists of two big parts, a praeludium and an appendix. The two big parts are separated in many chapters.
The pages are either full of centered text or it has a big image or illustration on it. There is nearly no page which has an image and a block of text.
The first letters of each chapters are larger than normal, and the first letters of the parts, praeludium and appendix are very large and richly adorned.
The text is the main part of the book, as it makes up the majority of the content. The illustrations and images are regardless important, as they are giving the words form and sense. Because of the sort of mathematic subject this is really needed. The text is organised as a fluent block of text with relatively big margins.
The illustrations show technical drawings and explanations, on which it is visible how to draw and illustrate perspectives of figures and much more.
Images and illustrations are numbered and are having little descriptions. Most of them are at the very end of the book, as showings as of what is possible.
The organisation of text and images suggest an academic study.
