2. A Paragraph of text
My Book „Vera et accurata delineatio omnium templorum et coenobiorum“ is divided into 4 parts, carried out in 2 books (each containing 2 parts). Both books start out with the cover, a title page, a short introduction and the main content – which are illustrations. All the text is mainly written with a very serif font or even handwritten in an old german font. Starting out with the introduction, which is centered on the right site of a double page with a small text about what’s following. Also here the font is quite illustrated and big – there is just as much intention to present the text visually, as it is for the presentation of the content. The illustrations always cover a full page, followed by a blank page – which results in one illustration per double page. These Illustrations do have an architectural background but (depending on the chapter of the book) comprise mainly gardens and facades of older buildings. There is sometimes a comment / a description under the drawing; it is mainly to complement the illustrations. These descriptions are often split into two columns, describing the picture in two languages. If the depiction is two big, a foldout spread is attached at some pages. You can tell that the detailed drawings are the main focus point in these books. They are numbered (not by page but by illustration) in the top right corner. By the layout and the description of the illustrations the book could be used for enjoying the drawings as they are, as well as using them as a reference for newer garden planing or for educational reasons. As there was no clear text in my book I did not do an OCR of my main book, but of the book „Knight, Townley, Specimens of Ancient Sculpture“
