Details explained
The book “dell’architettura” explains the orders of different columns. It therefore makes sense to also present the book’s structure in a very orderly fashion.
A long introduction is followed by several sketches. The sketches are extremely detailed and often the exact dimensions are given.
Gioffredo takes space for his sketches so that you can understand them and memorise the details. It seems that the emphasis is on the classical orders, dimensions and details.
The book is divided into several chapters, which makes it easier to get an overview. It seems as if the number of drawings is quite balanced against the number of pages with text.
The chapters and the different titles of the texts are in a different font to make them easier to distinguish.
The pages look quite thin and old, as you can often easily see the print from the back of the paper.
Drawings and texts are separated, which means it is often not clear whether the text describes a new topic or contains additional information to the drawings.
