This spread is found right in the beginning of the book. It is remarkable that the writing is italic, which we do not find anywhere else in the book. It seems to be a lettre from the author (François Blondel).
The book is divided in four bigger chapters, in relation to the subject of resolutions of the four principle problems of architecture. Here we can see the end and the beginning of a chapter. We notice that the new chapter starts with a detailed drawing and a big title introducing the new resolution.
The left page marks the end of the text part of the book and also show us when and where the book was publihed. From there on, a bunch of drawings (like the one on the right page) explaining the written part follow.
