The book “L’Art universel des fortifications” cousit of drawings and texts which go hand in hand together.
I chose these three extracts of the book, because they show how the book is structured. The text and the pictures cooperate in this book. The chapters start with a title and a small summary to initiate the chapters.
The book has many illustrations. Some illustrations, like the drawing on the first cutout, give an inductance on what is coming in the following chapter. These marvelous drawings encourage figuratively the theme of the following chapter, which makes the whole book sort of more meaningful and easier to understand for the reader.
It is impressive how the author brings everything together in his book. He combines his beautiful drawings and illustrations of deskriptive plans and axonometric drawings etc. with his descriptive texts.
