Task II
Chosen page spreads
The first page that really caught my attention was one that said “Directions to the Book-Binder” in the headline. I’ve never seen this being written down this in a book before. It’s like a precise guidance on how to assemble all the pages together. On the other side of the same spread the word “PROBLEMS” was the first word I noticed. That is probably because on one hand it’s the only word that is printed in cursive characters and on the other hand it’s a word that just jumps into your eye sight quite naturally as if you are kind of trained to react to that specific word in terms of an error report. Additionally, this page has many different font sizes and styles. The second spread consists of a variety of figure drawings on one side and it’s corresponding explanations listed on the other side. I didn’t even knew that for example the name of a polygon with twelve edges was named “dodecagon”. The last pair of pages I chose feature a detailed table of various elements with a mass of probably extremely precise measurements in numbers. Besides common components of tables like gold and iron it also mentions food items like red wine and milk.
