These two pages show the list of the subscribers of the book. It lists all the people that supported William Chambers to write this book. The list is in an alphabetical order, the only exception are the members of the royal family who are addressed before the list begins.
At the end of the first page you can see the first words of the second page as an indicator, if the book falls apart with time. On the second page of the list there are 3 small Chinese signs above the page and 3 signs below. This is one of the very few occasions of Chinese signs in this book.
This list only appears in the English part of the book. This is very interesting because the French part is in the earlier pages of the book.
These pages follow the preface of the English part. The first letter of the text is exceptionally big, and the first word of each paragraph is written in capital letters. Below the text there are footnotes to the text. On the first of these two pages there is a small side note on the right. The first Page has a roman number on the top right, but the second page has an Arabic number on the top left. Above the title of the first page there are small Chinese signs, which are very rare in this book. The subtitle on the second page is written partly in cursive letters.
These pages are part of the picture-pages of the book. On the second page there are some words/phrases in Chinese letters. Below the text there are 3 sketches of a machine. This machine could be used to lift some materials while constructing the Chinese buildings. The first page seems to be just a plane paper, but if you watch closely you can see the imprint of the second page. With the years of these two pages pressed together in the book, the ink of the second page left some traces on the previous one.
