Pages_Designs for villas_task 2 - Archived Posted on 11/15/202009/13/2021 The first pair I chose consists of the first two pages of the book. As they are the opening, they have to capture the reader’s attention and make sure he continues reading. The beginning is hence a crucial point. The author starts with the title and subtitle of the chapter, after which he writes a Latin poem. He continues with a paragraph about happiness and discusses its meaning and whether the state of happiness is unreachable. He closes the page off with another poem, this time it is in English. Thus he creates a visually structured page as he encloses his own text with two poems. The book is divided in two parts. First there is a part consisting only of written text, while the second one is filled with different illustrations. I chose this page, as these are the first drawings the Author shows us. Before each page with illustrations, there is an empty one, in this way he beautifully structures the double pages to not be overloaded with information and enhance the focus on each building. On this specific page he shows us two side views of different buildings. The illustrations are labelled with “design 1” and “design 2”, hence these are two different possibilities of how a certain task can be solved. The last pair I chose is also from the illustrated pages section. In this instance the author does not show us different designs from the outside but he decided to give us the ground plan with its respective building. Before this page, the author either showed us two buildings or two ground plans, but now he decided to put the two types together on to one page. The plan is labelled as “plan of design 19 and 20” while the upper illustration is “design 20”, hence it implies that one ground plan can still lead to different kinds of buildings.
