As the title says we’re looking at a military handbook. To allow a wide use of this „field manual“ it gets protected by a robust leather cover. For personal notes ecc. there are several empty pages in the beginning/ending of the book too. The used materials of the book seem to correspond to the purpose of application.
The construction of the book in general caught my attention. So next to the hard cover and the empty pages (some of them are even cut out) there are foldable double-pages which function like a map. Furthermore some pages vary in scale depending on the content their showing.
There seems to be as much text as there are drawings/illustrations/plans ecc. They don’t follow a certain layout but are rather positioned where they make most sense. Some drawings take up whole pages while others share the space with text and diagrams. Text and Drawing clarify each other.
