Page 490 – A majority of defended crossing or bridge options and their mechanisms are shown here. The river flowing below plays an important role. These bridge constructions are important in so far as they are the links between the attacker and the defender.
Page 518 – Last a not theoretical example: the castle Gennep. It beautifully shows us the complete structure of its defensive rings and their general arrangement. The third picture is a contrast to the theoretical consideration of a defense by using a real existing example.
