- “La militare architettura”
Unlike on most pages of this old book with 238 Pages, there is a larger drawing on page 204 and page 205 that almost fills the double page. The drawing – at first sight a very clean pencil sketch – shows a multi-level, military rampart.
The drawing, which shows perspective inconsistencies, reflects the title of the book: “The military architecture”. It immediately becomes clear that this is not a construction that is ingenious in its finesse, but much more the sense and purpose of such a military construction.
The following page 206 remains blank in the book. However, the drawing mentioned above shimmers through the old pages. Was it perhaps technically impossible at the time to continue text printing on the back of an illustration?
