Friends with an old book
In the last two semesters I have made friends with an old book by Johann Christian Senckeisen.
In the beginning I was very happy with my book. It was in German (my mother tongue) and consisted of 50% pictures.
The first task was solved very quickly in my eyes. When I went on a blind date with my book for the second task, I was very surprised when our eyes met for the first time. I felt betrayed and I realized how the illusion in pictures on the Internet can be deceptive. My book has always presented itself on the Internet as a beautiful old book with a lot of patina. On our blind date I had to find out that my book was not a book at all, but a film role. After I had overcome the first shock and forced myself to give my ‘book’ a chance, we had a lot of fun together. I entered into a friendship with a film role about a book and not with a book itself.
Unfortunately, my ‘book’ didn’t let me down just once. When I wanted to get to know my ‘book’ in more depth in task four, I had to find that my ‘book’ was closing in front of me. It was impossible for me to translate my ‘book’. So I was forced to break up with my ‘book’ and look for a new book. The new book was also in German, but didn’t have a single picture and that bothered me.
I had to think a lot about my old ‘book’ and what it would have been like if we could have walked together into the sunset.
However, I have to leave my ‘book’ (film role) behind me to be able to concentrate on upcoming books. But I will never be able to forget it completely.
