During the first task „Location“, it quickly became clear to me that there will be difficulties with understanding because the book was published in Italian. Nevertheless, I was surprised: Despite the lack of Italian knowledge, I could understand the meaning of it. During the analysis, I was able to filter out how the book is structured and what the author’s intention was. The illustrations as well as the headings helped enormously to understand the content.
The visit to Einsiedeln as part of the task „Contact“ was the most outstanding part of this journey. I was honoured to be able to get access to such a prestigious collection of unique works. I could almost go back in time to be closer to the author in order to understand his intention for the creation of the book. The physical approach was the most fascinating experience.
The taks „Lineage“ which consisted of searching for further editions turned out to be difficult since they also often date from the 17th century on and are therefore not mentioned in the internet.
The attempt to digitalise a text passage for task “Text and Image” was also problematic since it is written in old Italian language and the software can therefore not read old issuing. On the other hand the analysis of images contributes to an overall understanding and stands as a major role in backing up the text of the book.
Furthermore the significance of the book became even clearer throughout the last task „Synthetic Friendships“. This step allowed everyone to look at their work once more and examine the viewpoints of their author in order to create a possible exciting conversation. The books created many new statements which gave us great joy.
