The task “Friends with an old book” was something very special for me. The most important point was the contact with an old architecture book. To hold an original piece of such an age in my hands and to be able to leaf through it was very exciting. Especially working in the Werner Öchslin library contributed a lot to the impression, even if the way to get there was hard. Nevertheless, certain intermediate tasks seem somewhat useless to me. In the end, I still don’t know the content of the book very well, which I would have found an exciting aspect, not only having to leaf through but also having to read certain passages. Location: The first task was a pleasant introduction, to deal with an old architecture book, short and concise. Contact: In my opinion the best assignment. It was great to really seek contact and have the book in front of you. But the video of oneself that came with it was a bit strange, even if I understand the idea behind it. The compression of the video file cost me unnecessary hours. Linneage: A bit strange I found the task to find other copies and translations. Even if the step makes sense to me, I always find the internet search a bit out of place for working with the old books. Hardly found anything, the result was also quite disappointing for me. Text & image: Again an exciting task, because you have to deal directly with the content of the book. Even if not on site and with a book in your hands, you can still examine the text and the images with a file. Therefore the analysis was nevertheless instructive and one could find out and work out some things about the book. It still seemed to be special, but that still did not need to read the text of the book. The English translation was clearly available and also part of the task. I learned a lot about format, illustrations or printing, but the exact content is still not completely clear. Synthetic Friendships: Now to sit down with others and compare the books was a pleasant surprise, a task I did not expect this way. It was very exciting to talk to fellow students and ask them about their experiences with their book. I also found creating a drama to be an exciting and fun task. A great ending to an exciting series. The whole aspect of the blog was also something new but also cool for me. You can always compare the experiences of other students with your own. Reading or listening to the dramas of the other groups also has a charm for me. So many groups have found and chosen different media with which they present their conversation.
All in all, the tasks were very exciting. It was an experience that I would never have thought to experience like that. Even if some parts like the linneage task seemed more boring, the direct contact in the library compensated most of it.
