“Della architettura di Gio. Antonio Rusconi” is in a way a reconstruction of Vitruvis’ ten books, as the title of the book also implies. Therefore, the general subject of the book is about the basic knowledge of architecture. It contains a variety of information on Greek and Roman buildings. It also includes an instruction for the planning and design of military camps, cities, and structures both large such as buildings, baths and small such as machines, measuring devices.
- Organisation of the book
At the beginning there is a foreword “a quelli, che leggerano” then the index followed by the ten books which are organized like chapters. Each book is about 15 – 20 pages. Almost all pages are filled with illustrations and are accompanied with short text passages. This enhances the delivery of the author’s ideas.

Rusconis book has a length of 280 mm, a breadth of 200 mm and a height 15 mm. Those features correspond to the traditional standard of super octavo.
