The book Art of construction, or architecture of all the most fundamental, most necessary, belonging to mathematical and mechanical arts, actual report and comprehensible instruction […] written by Walther Hermann Ryff, is a compilation of translated theoretical texts from various authors (Alberti, Nicolas de Cues, Reinhard zu Solms, Dürer… etc). This book is essentially about geometry, perspective, fortification and ballistic. It aims to complete the subjects of the book De Architectura from Vitrivius, which Ryff translated in German years before the publication of this book

The book has 558 pages. There are most of the time illustrations on each page next to the text which illustrate the content discussed . The book is divided into many chapters, each one treating a different subject. 

The dimensions of the book are as follows: 32.3x21x11 cm (height, breadth and width) It can be classified as an Imperial Octavo size.
