My book «Nouveau traité des cinq ordres d‘architectures tant ancien et moderne», written by Chrarles Dupuis was published in 1766 in Paris. The book has quite a big format with 25.5 to 39.3 cm with a cover that reminds of a blue marble like pattern.
When browsing through the book you recognize very fast, that it contains hardly any texts, 40 of the 44 pages show illustrations and mappings. Only three pages contain introduction texts in the topic.
There is no table of content but in general the book is organized in three different parts. The first part shows an overview of the antique orders with all its different types of columns, entablatures with all its subcategories and portals and the second part the modern version of those components. In between we can find some introduction texts that describe how to build and design those elements. The third and last part of the book shows his drawings of a cabinet, a salon and the Nouvelle Eglise de Sainte- Geneviève in Paris with a ground plan.
