Johann Jacob Schüblers book Synopsis Architecturae Civilis eclecticae is an educational publication covering the topics proportions and persepective in the wide field of civilian architecture. He uses a scientific approach to explain how to properly depict architectural work. Schübler doesn’t limit himself to one aspect of civilian architecture, his illustrations include interior space, fountains, wells, stairways, facades, vaults and more.
The book contains four different volumes, with 13 chapters each. Schübler also wrote a fifth continuation, unfortunately it is not included in the book and also not available in digital form anywhere. The book is written in Old High German, not only making the letters hard to read but also the language incrompehensible in a lot of sections.
