The book “Architettura della Basilica di San Pietro Vaticano” is a volume entirely dedicate to the St.Peter’s Basilica in Vaticano City, aimed at testifying the architecture of the building.
The first page contains the frontispiece; the image shows a monument surrounded by many angels. Hanging on the monument there is a drape carrying the name of the book. After the frontispiece comes the title page that exposes all the informations about the book; name of the author, year of publication, name of the carver and some informations about the print house. Then comes the dedication page, followed by the epigraph “ai letter” (translated: “to the reader”). The book begins at page eleven with “la Dichiarazione” (“the declaration”) a chapter which meticulously describes the architecture of the building, and with which the author brings the reader into a virtual itinerary inside the building. All the 30 figures are introduced by a chapter describing them singularly. The tables, which show ground plans, section and prospective drawings, are mostly exposed spread across two full pages, and have the following dimensions: 45x75cm.
