M. François Blodels book Cours d’architecture enseigné dans l’Académie Royale d’Architecture (Architecture course taught in the Royal Academy of Architecture) is the first of two volumes of the writer about this subject. I had the chance to consul this old book in the ETH Library in Zurich.
Based on the appearance of the book, I can say that it’s kept in a very good condition. Other than a really small hole through the last pages, there were no other damages.
This first volume is divided in six books and the main topic is architecture: to be more specific Blondel is explaining the reader the approach of the ancients to architecture. The text is followed by many detailed and exhaustive illustrations that help the reader to better understand the various concepts trough the volume.
Cours d’architecture enseigné dans l’Académie Royale d’Architecture is 1045 pages long. It has a width of 270 mm, a length of 390 mm, and a thickness of 60 mm. By the measuring of the book and according to the “Standard book sizes” the size of this volume is Folio (Fo).
