The cover of the book is made from leather, it does not give any kind of information about what is inside. The title can be found on the second page as part of a picture showing a fortification and several weapons, ranging from canons to spears.
The Book is about the architecture of modern fortification, as I understand it, the author mainly focuses on how to defend against canons. He describes and compares different types of fortification which he shows in several illustrations. He also writes about geometrical concepts, which he seems to use as a starting point to find the form of a fortification. Several mathematical formulas can be found in the book.
The book is split up in four main parts, the author calls them books, which are then subdivided in chapters. These chapters are usually very short, often less than a page long. A table of contents can be found in the end of the book.
The pages of the book are 270 mm high and 200 mm wide. The thickness is 55 mm. This makes it an in-quarto.
The Book has 237 pages and contains 54 illustrations, of which 15 are larger and can be folded out. A lot of the smaller pictures are about geometrical concepts.
