Firstly, I chose the book La Pratica di Prospettiva, written by Lorenzo Sirigatti. It contains many illustrations on the theme of perspective, which is one of the main themes of our book, Lo inganno de gl’occhi. Nevertheless, the two books have a publication date separated by almost fifty years. The theories have had time to evolve in fifty years and therefore the vision of perspective is a little different. The language is the same, Italian. What is similar to our book is the number of pages. There are 148 pages, whereas ours has 152, so you can compare the proportion of illustrations to text pages. Therefore, it is little text compared to the number of illustrations, which differs from Pietro Accolti’s book.

Secondly, I chose the book La Perspective, avec la raison des ombres et miroirs written by Salomon de Caus.

The language used is French, which differs from ours, being written in Italian. The two books were published thirteen years apart (1612 and 1625), which means that the theories on the various themes have evolved little in comparison with the almost fifty years separating our first two works. The themes covered mainly in this book are Perspective, Illustrations, illusions and Theories.

This book contains about a hundred pages and ours contains 152 pages, which is rather close in terms of the number of pages and therefore approximately the thickness.

There are many illustrations in this book, which is also the case in Pietro Accolti’s book, although there is also text, separated into several chapters.

This book is aimed at people with little or no experience. This is somewhat contrary to our book, which is rather aimed at amateurs or professionals such as architects or engineers for example.
