Fabian Kohler
For this exercise, I turned to the essence of my book “Theatrum Architecturae civilis”. It could be considered a guide to architecture, covering many aspects of the field. From the actual construction of walls, columns, and so on to more fundamental conceptual knowledge such as proportions, geometry, symmetries are also present. To all this can be added knowledge about materials.
So I started to search with the following keywords:
Stable construction
Comment n°1:
One of the main themes of my book is the construction of buildings of the time through very innovative techniques for the time. Indeed, like this book, it paid particular attention to the various construction techniques and the various technical parts of the buildings.
There is thus a very strong relationship between these two books, which are in a sense guides to the architecture of that bygone era. They deal with the construction itself, the orders or the materials, making them complete and enriching works.
Comment n°2:
Like this book, “Theatrum Architecturae civilis” is a work composed of a very large number of chapters dealing with various themes of architecture. Between building techniques, materials and ornamentation, this work can be browsed with a table of contents to facilitate its use. What is interesting is that these two books seem to speak of different eras while having the same idea in mind; to gather knowledge and to be able to erect a guide to these different eras.
