AVG is a powerful program with a variety of features, excellent security against malware and excellent performance in countless tests. The free version has a few limitations, and the premium version comes with additional features, including a device optimization tool and VPN.
The software’s malware scan uses machine learning and heuristics in order to identify and eliminate any potential threat, including trojans rootkits, trojans and Cryptojackers. It also guards against ransomware, phishing attacks and malicious websites by blocking downloads. AVG’s smart scans are fast and thorough, and they provide a range of “advanced issues” that you can resolve now, such as sensitive items that must be password-protected, a vulnerable webcam or an inadequate firewall. It’s more aggressive than other antivirus programs that are top-quality in this respect. If you click on any of these problems, it will ask you to buy the paid version.
Its AV Test results are generally high. It detected and blocked 100% of malware in March and April 2022 testing. Its ability to detect zero-day attacks is lower than some of the top-rated products that I’ve tested. It is also prone to slowing down the system.
The free version includes email and web protection, identity theft monitoring for leaked passwords and photo vault features, and the free AVG Cleaner utility helps speed up devices by removing junk files. The premium version enhances security features with webcam and ransomware protection as well as safer banking and an upgraded firewall. It also includes the performance tuneup which accelerates your PC’s performance and extends battery life and it adds the option of a VPN to protect your identity online.
