Friend with an old book Task 2 – Argument

My Friend “L’art d’appareil” was written in the in 1756. Its origin is in French in Paris. Any further Information where hard to find, there is also not much known about the author only his name is written on the first page, which is Prof. Menand. The structures of the book is a text and a drawing to support the content.

“L’art d’appareil” is translated “the art of apparatus” which is an essential part of architecture, necessary for architects, contractors, fitters and stonemasons. In this book one will find several methods which had not yet been developed.

The book has many interesting drawings and structures. Which are mostly round this may be, because round constructs were revolutionary or rather advanced and difficult to build at that time and age.

Mostly they are describing different types of wall constructions. There also descriptions of doors, ceilings and arches. The drawings are very accurate, and parts are noted with numbers which are explained in detail.

The Book has many interesting constructions that seem complicated. It is a advanced book for architecture
