The book, “Monumens érigés en France à la gloire de Louis XV”, is about different projects for the mentioned royal square. The Book also shows a lot of different architecture in the 18th century and critises louis XV in an oblique way.
The book has almost 350 pages and is devided in 3 parts.
The first part, which is also the introduction, has a very clear structure with one column per page and it doesn’t has any illustrations.
The second part is divided in eight chapters. Patte describes the different projects that were presented during the first competition for the Louis XV square in Paris in 1748. Every chapter consists of a lot of illustrations which show the different projects.
The Title of the chapters are around 24 tall, the under title around points and the normal texts is written in a font around 16 points tall.
The illustrations in the book are mostly very detailed. The illustrations are a wide range of traditional architectural plans, drawings that help visualize the text, sketches and perspective views.
Most of the Illustrations are in the second part of the book but you also can find a few in the third part while there are none illustartions in the first part.
The illustrations often cover a whole page, therefore you can see every detail.
The images are not numbered or have not any references or comments.
At the end of the book there is an alphabetic index containing all the main topics of this book and attached are some more images.
