For the fourth and final assignment, I compared books similar to mine. Using the search function, I looked for a picture book. Numerous were the results, but I settled on book #44, “Giovanni Battista Falda – Le Fontane di Roma nelle piazze, e luoghi publici della cittĂ ” – or in English, “Giovanni Battista Falda – The Fountains of Rome in the Squares and Public Places of the City” I found it exciting that the book is very similar to mine. For example, both books deal with buildings that are rich in symbolism. I find the newly found book more exciting than mine, especially in the level of detail. This is also due to the fact that it is a perspective drawings and not as in my reproduction of stone chiselings.
Another exciting connection I saw in the book L’expĂ©rience de l’architecture militaire by Des Martins. Published at the same time as my book, it has a similar content. It is about war. The difference is that in my book it is about one building (the column) and in Des Martins’ book several buildings are compared and assigned their value.
