At first I tried to summarise my knowledge of the themes of my book. I consulted my text for the Task 2 to refreshen my memories of the contents of the book. I wrote down the overall theme of perspective and learning its principles. From there on I tried to come up with different words to put into Alice. For example, I tried words such as exercise, learning, principles of perspective, perspective, theory of perspective. First I searched my words with the topic of conversations set as architecture. This generated a lot of books about modern architecture which didn’t rally had a connection to my book . But I wanted something thats more historically related because my book was written in the 18th century. Then I tried changing the topic of conversation to perspective. I now found books which correlated thematically a lot more to my book than the books that came up in my previous search. Some words didn’t have a use full output at all. For example searching the word „exercise“, was a dead end. This word did not find books related to mine, because this word was used in many different contexts.
After my research I came up with 2 different books. The first one is „Perspective as Symbolic Form“ bz Erwin Panofsky written in 1991. In contrast to my book, this one isn’t talking about perspective in architecture but more in art. Even though they discuss different fields, both books talk about the importance of perspective. Wehere as Johann Christoph Bischof talks about a universal principle of perspective, Panofsky talks about the symbolism in perspective.
The second book I chose is called „A history of Architectural Theory“ by Hanno-Walter Kruft published in 1994. This book does not talk about the principles of perspective itself but rather the importance of the system that was established bz books like „Kurtzgefasste Einleitung zur Perspectiv“. It talks about the influence the principles of perspective had on architectural history.
