At the beginning of my search for similar books for “architectura militaris”, written by Andreas Cellarius, I had to find out how Alice works, since I was using the platform for the first time. For this purpose, I started searching for basic terms like construction or architecture. It was very interesting to see what a wide range of books Alice found.
After looking around Alice, I began searching for books related to my topic. Of course, I started with the word “military.” There were several novels, stories, and theory books that came up. My goal was to find a good description in Alice that represented “achitectura militaris”. Among all the books, I chose “Engineering the Revolution” by Ken Alder.
The book describes engineering in the French Revolution. It is not really about architecture or has many pictures like “architectura militaris”. Still, it has many similar themes such as weapons, military, and history. The book illustrates what kind of techniques the French Revolution had.
The second book I chose is “Late Gothic Architecture – It’s evolution, extinction and reception” by Robert Bork. For this, I started another conversation in Alice with the topic of geometry and simply chose the first book that came up. Similar to my book, it talks a lot about the beginnings of geometry and how it influenced many cities in Europe. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go into the military or the fortress. But at least it contains the main theme of my main book and has a lot of history in it.
Overall, it was very hard to find a book that included the topic of “architectura militaris”. Mostly books about modern architecture or the renaissance appeared. Novels with the main conflict of war were also featured. In conclusion, it was interesting to use Alice and I’m going to use it more often.
