As I started the task, I decided that I wanted to use two different brain types from Alice. First, I chose the brain Xenotheka library due to its variety of books according to the topics of architecture which concedes with my book for the tasks of Friends with an old book. As second brain type I chose the brain architecture library, to see if there are any differences with the search results while comparing them with the brain of the Xenotheka library. For the topic of conversation, I also decided to go with architecture.
As the title already gives away my book the Grecian Order of Architecture focuses mainly on the Greek orders. I decided to use the Grecian Orders as topic for my first search. The results of this first search were much broader than the second one. I assume it’s because the Xenotheka library disposes a wider selection of books than the architecture library.
As topic for my second search with the architecture library brain I decided on Greek statues because they are often featured in my book. The number of results for my second search were less, and the sentences were shorter.
The two books that I finally chose are:
The first book that I chose is Fragments Architecture and the Unfinished from Oechslin Bergdoll. I decided on this book because it used my key word and was one of the first responses on the list. The author Bergdoll describes the Grecian orders as fundamental elements of architecture, this is also displayed in Rious book. Bergdoll also focuses on the Grecian impact on others.
The second book I decided on is Shakespeare and Contemporary Theory New Historici by the author Parvini. As described in Parvinis quote: “It is not only Greek statues that come with a set of culturally imposed signified meanings and associations, but all words and their objects.” It focuses on the Greek statues and their cultural importance. In Rious book that is also one of the main themes.
