Charles le Brun – Grand escalier du château de Versailles
I chose these two pages because you can see how detailed and precise the drawings were made. Each shadow as well as clouds were drawn. By just looking at it I can tell that making these took a lot of time and patience. There seemed to be a cut out of the paper where the drawings were placed. So technically the drawing was either placed between two sheets that were glued together or the drawing was glued on the back of the paper with the cut out.
Compared to my hand the book is about three times as big. It’s cover is made out of leather I believe and is very thick. The book in general is very heavy and robust. Some pages seem to be missing or covered by a white sheet. The book is written in both French and Latin.
