The old book “Gothic Architecture” from Batty Langley and Thomas Langley from the year 1742. The copy of the book was printed in 1972, which I have read or better looked, because it does not content text.
This book shows the gothic architecture, improved by rules and proportions in many grand designs of different building parts.
The book (see following picture) is a small and light book. The dimensions are like a A4 paper and is a little bit higher that a pencil. The weight of the book around 500gr.
The book has only pictures and dimensions of the different gothic buildings.
Thanks to the diameters in the pictures the reader sees the different dimensions of the columns (for example).
Content of the books are illustrations from several columns, doors, windows, chimney pieces, arcades, colonnades, porticoes, umbrellas, temples and pavilions.
The illustrations show the different orders of the columns and the gothic entablature and capital of the orders. Following than the different gothic frontispieces (from one to twelve).
Then are wo different Arcades illustrated. It follows different pictures of umbrellas for gardens, specifying the circular windows.
At least are shown the differenttemples options.
