Novissima Praxis Militars is a book by Johann Bernhard von Scheither. It was first published in 1672. Johann Bernhard von Scheither was a high military member and also an engineer.
It is about fortification and specifically about the fortress of the italian village of Cambia. The book informs about how to build imposing and strong fortification but also about the acts of defending and attacking a fortress efficiently. The Fortifikation of Cambia often referred to. The fact that Johann Bernhard von Scheither is an expert in both military and engineering, makes his perspective really interesting.
The book is organized quite logically with different aspects as chapters such as defense of a fortification, attack of a fortification etc. There are just very few illustrations in the book. Just the first Page has an image. The rest is very densely written with few charts and lists. It is written in old German and the font is very squiggly, which makes it quite difficult to read. The pages do have some holes in it, probably due to insects.
The pages of the book are approximately 30 Centimeters tall and 18 Centimeters wide. It has a total of 125 Pages and, as previously written just one illustration on the first page.
