Hey! I looked at the video you posted here and found that “L’architecture françoise” by Jean Mariette shares many physical similarities with my book which is “livre d’architecture” by Germain Boffrand. They are about the same size, and work in the same way: meaning the floorpans and sections were drawn in the same large, and thus more detailed, scale which is why so many plans need to be folded together to fit into the book. They also seem to be about the same length and they both show a collection of French architecture in the 18th century. they both almost exclusively have illustrations in them and only very little introductory text.
The drawing style (a lot of quite dark hatching) also reminded me a lot of Boffrands drawings in his book, which may just have been the ideal style at the time.

Hello! I came across your post by searching for “eighteenth century” and finding out that your book was also published in french. Another similarity between my book, “livre d’architecture” by Germain Boffrand and your book “Cours d’architecture” by Augustin d’Aviler is the discussion of the five orders. In your case its explicitly stated that Augustin d’Aviler read Vignolas book of the five orders, while in Boffrands book he just mentions Vitruvius as his reference, but it can be assumed that he had read Vignola as well, given that both our authors lives around the same time and in the same country.
