While getting to know my assigned book better I first looked at the title. The title of my book is “Architettura civile del padre D. Guarino Guarini … : opera postuma …”, which is translated: “Civil architecture of father Guarino Guarini…: posthumous work…”. Simply from the title I know that the content itself is from Guarino Guarini but had already died and someone else published the book. Guarino Guarini was an Italian architect, mathematician and priest. One of his successors published this book. The content of the book is based on civil architecture. When we look at the list of contents, we discover that this book covers architecture in general and its principles, ichnography, elevated orthography and some more.
I assume, judging from the list contents, that this book is quite theory heavy. Which I do not mean in any way in a bad way. As I mentioned in the previous task before, I personally find it rather impressive how much I presume this book goes into detail on the aforementioned subjects
The book contains some illustrations, mainly of buildings and columns of the five orders. Based on the thickness of the book and the page count, which is around 400 pages, the book is quite extensive. It can probably mean that the subject of civil architecture had already been researched quite a bit and that some people most likely were interested to get to know more on this topic. Guarino Guarini was also very famous at the time he died so it was certainly important to publish his remaining works.
