The full title of the book is „anderer Versuch seiner architect: Wercke bestehend in allerhand Grund-Haupt-Rissen und Profilen unterschiedener Gebäuden. In Nürnberg“ from Johann Rudolph Faesch.
In my opinion the book is for all the people which are interested in the architecture and the construction art. Especially if you are interested in the architecture of Nürnberg. He also mentioned it in his prologue.
The author was born on 6. April 1680 in Bale. He was an officer of the imperial army. He was a so called military architect and engineer. In 1742 he was even promoted to Colonel. He was also a lecturer for military architecture. He died on 1st November 1749 in Dresden.
The book is divided in five chapters which are called „Theil.“ In every chapter there is a little dedication to somebody. In the chapters two and four there is even a part where he tells us to which reader the following illustrations will concern. To every „Theil“ we can see a list of plans and Illustrations from different buildings from Nürnberg.
Most of the books content are illustrations and plans. We can see different buildings in different angels. To every building there are also cutting plans and floor plans. It shows the different facades and their structure and details. Very interesting are the illustrations which show the structure of the buildings. In his last chapter there are also different illustrations and plans from the military. Not just buildings or camps plans he also illustrated different kind of materials, tools and weapons used by the military in that time.
The books format is more or less 56cmx35cm and the thickness is approximately 10cm. There are many pages because the Illustrations and the pages are one-sided. So every second page is blank. Its important so every illustration or plan get its own importance. The book includes 352 pages.
