The title of my book is “Vitruvius Britannicus, or the British architect” Vol.I..
Author of the book: Campbell Colin, 1715-1771.
The book has a size of large folio plate and the thickness is about 3cm. The printed fonts on the front page are with beautiful details of fracture and italics. A big part of this book is based on illustrations. It containing plans, elevations, variety of designs and sections of the regular buildings, both public and private in Great Britain. With 200 large folio plates, variety of new designs, engraved by the best hands, and drawn either from the buildings themselves, or the original designs of the architects.
It starts with an short introduction and in the end it has an nice ornament. Next follows an explanation of all the plates in the first volume as headline with a symmetry strip on the top of the page. On page 7 is a list of what is contain’d in the first volume and it arranged in numb., plants., and fronts. On the next page there is a short letter to George R. by His Majesty’s Command, Ja. Stanhope. In the book it has a few big elevation plan. The size of those elevation plan is tow large folio plates and you have to open it in both sides. All the plans have very clean and fine lines. That give a very good light-shadow contrast and it characterize the facade material.
