My book is called „Neü-herfürgegebene Kriegsarchitektur“ which makes it very clear that the book focuses on military buildings. I also think that the word „neü“ is old German and stands for new. Therefore the book will probably be aimed at leaders that want to build their fortress with the newest methods. To show the reader what is possible the second part is full of illustrations with many ways to build a fortification. The illustrations look like technical drawings and show different sections of the fortification from different angles. Each drawing has a specific number which is referred to in the first part of the book where each illustration has its own small text with additional information. Most of the drawings are on big pages that are bigger than the normal ones to look at the whole drawing the pages swing out and unfold the big sketches of fortifications. The focus lies on star-shaped fortification walls and moats introduced by the development of cannons. The book is rather thin and shares the cover with an other old book. I think that is because the book is basically a sketchbook with text that describes each sketch and not a philosophical book that consists mainly of text. It can be seen as a kind of catalog of different fortification types. As an ingenieur and a professional defense builder I think that the author wanted to show the leaders of his time what better ways there were to strengen their defenses.
