My book is called “Architectura et perspectiva des fortifications & artifices“. The book is speaking to the architects and the engineers at the beginning of the 17th century. It is written in French.
There is no list of the content. Still there is a structure. You always have one page of text and the following double page is a perspective drawing which refers to the text on the previous page. In between there is an empty page.
Every second double page is an illustration of the text from the previous page. You can see different variations of building a house or several areas with houses. Each illustration of a house is having, besides the perspective view, a ground view and a view from the first floor when there is one in the house. The first letter of the text is illustrated in an big square on the top left side surrounded by some ornaments. This kind of beginning is very typical at that time. You can also see that everything is written and drawn with a feather. You see the ink a little bit on the next page. I think that is why they kept one page empty.
The size of the book has a rather normal A4 size 21.9×29.7cm. There is no number on each page but online there are 97 pages. For me it seems to be thin book what you can easily take to the field or the city.
The author of the book is called Jaques Perret. His intention was to show different types of city structures based on an drawn design. For example a star could be the ground structure and in that structure you build the city. He also wants to show several types of houses.
