“Leçon de perspective positive” by Jaques Androuet du Cerceau shows the reader how to draw different perspectives and their derivations. The book is well structured. On the first page he wrote a devotement to Catherine de Medicis, who was Queen of France from 1547 until 1559. The book continues with a preface of the author and crosses over to the table of contents. Structure is given by so-called “Lecons”, of which there can be found sixty throughout the book. These chapters don’t have big texts and mainly consist of illustrations and how he constructed them. The author starts with very simple perspective drawings of the floor. He continues with cubes and arches. Furthermore, he describes the different styles of how to construct and design staircases. Jaques Androuet du Cerceau ends the book with elaborated drawings of multiple storage buildings.
