It’s a book about Roman Baths and how they differ between reigns of different emperors. It’s divided into 9 chapters in English followed by lots and lots of illustrations of different baths and their decorations and with numerous close up sketches to show many details. In the end all nine chapters appear again but this time in French.
The chapters are as follows:
Chapter 1: of the apartments belonging to the baths
Chapter 2: of the baths of the romans under the emperors
Chapter 3: of the baths of Agrippa
Chapter 4: of the baths of Nero
Chapter 5: of the baths of Titus
Chapter 6: of the baths of Domitian and Trajan
Chapter 7: of the baths of Caracalla
Chapter 8: of the baths of Dioclesian
Chapter 9: of the baths of Constantine
The book is really big and measures 390mm x 567mm x 80mm.
The pages didn’t have numbers on them, so I counted 50 pages and estimated that it had 4 times that thickness so it has more or less 200 pages.
On average it has about one illustration per page so my guess is it has around 200 illustrations.
