Dichiarazioni della pianta dell’antiche Siracuse was written by Vincenzo Mirabella e Alagona and was published in Naples in 1613. The book is divided into four parts. The first part of the book focuses on the ancient city of Syracuse in Italy and shows the plan, section and elevation of the Temple of Minerva. The other three parts include the author’s coat of arms as well as the arms of Philip III of Spain, to whom the work is dedicated.
The general language of the book is Italian. Yet, there are small parts written in latin and greek, which makes me understand even less of the book than I did beforehand.
The book contains 282 pages, of which at least 50 are illustrations. The illustrated pages often show medals, woodcut head- and tail-pieces and plans.
The height of the book is 380 millimeters, the width is 250 millimeters and the breadth is 45 millimeters.
