It is always intriguing to have to do a new task. On the one hand because we have to use new learning tools and on the other hand because we have to use our sense of analysis for each evaluation.
First of all, I wrote down the main themes of my home book, in order to make the search more efficient. I was able to highlight some themes such as the five orders, the drawings, the analysis of ancient ruins, the temples.
Once the basics were founded, I started the more practical part which consisted in using this new research platform which was then unknown to me, not having had the possibility to use it before. It took me a little moment to get used to how this program worked and how to use this search software in his most efficient way.
I was immediately very excited to see how quickly we can search using this server.
With my first research using “the five orders” I was able to link the book “el quattro libri dell’architettura” with the book “Elements of Architecture” by Rem Koohlaas. Indeed, although they are separated by hundreds of years, these two books have a great similarity for me. They both aim to transcribe the details of architecture with the means they have. Moreover, Koohlaas adds a great deal of innovation with current technology. Although these books are linked by the five orders in terms of the research done with Alice, I notice that they are more similar to each other if we know that each of the books focuses on details such as windows, roofs, floors…
For my second search I used “Xenotheka Library” in Alice’s brain and used “temples” as a header to explore in Alice’s brain. I then selected from the results the book “Architecture Theory since 1968” by Hays. The latter also researches and evaluates architectural theory with a chapter on Greek temples in the chapter “The Origin of the Work of Art”.
This is my work coming to an end. To summarise, it is important to mention that the three books mentioned above are all three books of transmission, research and evaluation of existing architecture with the aim of teaching the important principles of architecture to his fellow man.
