According to the title the book addresses the topic of perspectives and the paradoxes that are related to humans perspective. This leads to the conclusion that the aim group are architects and people, who are interested in detailed drawing and geometry.
The book is parted in three main chapters. Number one is dealing with the actual topic of the perspective, the second one is his biography and thirdly the book has been added a part about shadows and fortress building.
To help out with the complexity of the topic the book is equipped with a lot of drawings, which explain the shape visually. These can roughly be divided in two parts: Firstly, the precise construction in a technical context and secondly, the more artistic drawings. Besides these illustrations there are some elaborate initials and wood engravings. These are decorating nearly every page. Over all the book is rich in drawings and ornaments.
The book has the size of a middle thick reading. This works perfectly for this kind of book. It is possible to watch at the drawings and on the other hand it is possible to take it with yourself if necessary.
The author Givulio Troili is an italian painter and writer born in 1613. He was a baroc artist, which explains the detailed illustrations. He entitled the term “paradossi della prospettiva”. Therefore he influenced the whole world with his books. His speciality was the perspective shaped square, which looks different in every view. Because of that this shape gained the title of the paradox.
