Full title: L’experience de l’architecture militaire
The experience of military architecture, where one thoroughly learns the method of working in the squares: the particular knowledge of materials suitable for building, the thoisé of the masonry and the aliquots of land, with that of the wood and the frameworks: together the science of finding the water sources for the public supply and the service of the war people, both in the camps and for the ships that make long journeys with figures.
It is the second edition of the book from 1687, which also treats the conditions of attachment.
Within the first pages of the boof there is a letter and a dedication to a Monsieur S. Pomenges. The letters of the name are formed by military elements.

The book has 15 chapters;
The first chapter is an introduction which includes what someone needs to know before building sites.
The following chapters include instructions and descriptions for drawing plans, descriptions of transport systems, coatings of foundations, angles of inclination and knowledge of the materials for the construction of military architecture.
At the end of every chapter there is at least one illustration which shows the previously described architecture. The drawings are very precise and highly detailed.
The book is very small and handy. It has 135 pages and measures 16 centimeters. This indicates that it was intended as a manual that can be taken and used directly at the construction sites.
As written on one of the last pages Des Martins was an ordinary engineer of the king, who lived between the 17th and 18th century.
