The book was written on different pages than the drawings. The pages which were used for the drawings were only used one-sided. Maybe it has something to do with a different paper they used. But also are these pages unfoldable. The size of the book literally changes while reading it.
I think this is a very interesting method to show big detailed drawings in a given size book.
